She lived with her partner for about 20 years but sadly he died in 2007. She now lives alone. Mary has been supported by Cornerstone since March 2002
Routines are very important to Mary to enable her to function without anxiety and she has a small group of Cornerstone staff whom she trusts. Support from Cornerstone enabled Mary to remain at home with her partner through his illness. It also enabled her to remain in her home after his death. Support in managing her finances has been crucial as there is now only her benefits to cover her living costs whereas before the costs were shared. She also received practical and emotional support from her trusted Cornerstone staff through her bereavement and the period immediately afterwards to help her to gain the confidence to live alone and continue with her normal range of activities.
Mary greatly values her independence and Cornerstone staff are working towards supporting her to have a holiday. This is something that Mary longs to do however she has always lacked the confidence.
